Peter Mendell Award 2016
Who will win the $2,500 scholarship?
Montreal, March 17, 2016 — The Jeunesses Musicales Canada Foundation is pleased to announce the opening of the applications for the $2,500 Peter Mendell Award. Candidates must be full-time string students (violin, viola, cello or double-bass) registered in a classical music performance program at a Quebec university, or completing their 3rd, 4th or 5th cycle at the Conservatoire de musique du Quebec.
Candidates must be 25 years or under on May 16, 2016. Application must be posted no later than May 16, 2016, and should include a reference letter from the candidate's instrument teacher as well as an audio recording. Solo recording or with piano accompaniment only.

About the Peter Mendell Award
Established in 2005, this annual award bears the name of its founder, Peter Mendell, an influential lawyer at Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg and a true music lover who is an enthusiastic cellist in his spare time. He established the Award in association with the JMC Foundation to foster the development of musical excellence.
