SEMAINE DE LA MUSIQUE – MARCH 2 TO 10, 2019
Over 40 concerts and workshops for young audiences across Greater Montréal
Montréal, February 13, 2019 – Experience March Break as a music fest for the whole family! The 15th Semaine de la musique organized by Jeunesses Musicales Canada will be presented in collaboration with the City of Montréal’s Accès culture network and with the generous contribution of Mr Peter Symcox.
From March 2 to 10, over 40 mostly free concerts and music workshops for 18 month to 12 year olds will take place in participating cultural centres, libraries, and performance venues across Greater Montréal.
JMC and its partners invite budding young musicians and their families to attend its fun, creative music workshops. Explore the many evolutions of music and dance through the years at the Time-Traveler’s Ball or experience the thrill of a drum circle at the Rhythm Box workshop.
Attend one of JMC’s many concerts and discover music through playful, theatrical performances. Don’t miss our new The Beginnings of Bing Bang! production, a humorous concert where two percussionist friends go on a mission to retrace the development of rhythm, looking at several musical traditions from around the world.
This March 2, families are invited to come launch JMC’s Semaine de la musique and dance in their pajamas in the basement of JMC’s André Bourbeau House (located at 305 Mont-Royal Avenue East) from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Following the smashing success of the last three years, Jammies Jam is back again for a 4th edition. In line with the 2019 theme of the Nuit Blanche à Montréal, Jammies Jam of the Future invites participants to invites participants to dance the night away to sounds of the past while imagining the future! Dress code: pyjamas!

Jeunesses Musicales Canada (JMC)
For nearly 70 years, Jeunesses Musicales Canada has been committed to promoting and disseminating classical music, especially among young people. Each season, JMC presents over 1,200 concerts and workshops featuring more than 120 artists in some 200 schools, concert halls and performance venues in Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada.
The Accès culture network
With 60 performance venues and exhibition halls, including 12 Maisons de la culture (cultural centres), the Accès culture network offers a varied year-round program of arts and culture activities including dance, theatre, music, poetry, variety and film as well as digital and visual art exhibitions.
