Changes to the Board of Directors and the Council of Governors of the Jeunesses Musicales Canada Foundation

Montreal, November 12, 2024 – The Jeunesses Musicales Canada Foundation (JMCF) is pleased to announce significant changes to its Board of Directors and its Council of Governors.


New Secretary of the Board of Directors
 
After several years of dedicated service, Alain Roy has stepped down as Secretary of the Foundation. We extend our heartfelt thanks for his commitment and invaluable contributions to the Foundation’s mission. Geneviève Lamarre, a lawyer and Board member for the past year, has been appointed to replace him as Secretary.«

New Board Member
We are delighted to welcome Christine Chan as a new member of the Board of Directors. With extensive experience in diplomacy and international business development, Christine currently serves as Senior Director, Commercial Strategy at VIA-HFR, the largest infrastructure project in Canada. 

Passionate about classical music and culture, she shares our vision of making music accessible to everyone, regardless of their socio-economic background. Her commitment to music education will further strengthen the mission of the Jeunesses Musicales Canada Foundation. 

Appointment to the Council of Governors
Richard Lupien, former Board member and past President of the Jeunesses Musicales Canada Foundation, has been appointed to the Council of Governors. Recipient of the Exceptional Engagement Award, Richard is renowned for his unwavering commitment to the arts and music. His extensive experience and leadership will continue to actively support the Foundation’s mission. 

In Memoriam Tribute 

Finally, we wish to honor the memory of André Bourbeau, former President of the Jeunesses Musicales Canada Foundation. His exceptional dedication to the Foundation and his love for classical music will continue to inspire future generations. André Bourbeau now holds a special place in our In Memoriam section. 

André Bourbeau will also be honored during our gala closing the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of Jeunesses Musicales Canada and the 40th anniversary of the Foundation, to be held on May 12, 2025. His invaluable contributions to our mission deserve the highest recognition. 

The Jeunesses Musicales Canada Foundation warmly thanks all its members for their ongoing commitment and support, which help to promote classical music to young audiences and support the next generation of musicians.
