Montreal, Tuesday, April 15, 2025 –The JM Canada Foundation is delighted to announce that Julia Brotto, 26 years-old, has been named the recipient of the prestigious Iwan Edwards Scholarship 2025. This honor, accompanied by a $5000 scholarship, will support Julia’s extensive professional development project, including a renowned conducting symposium and a week-long residency in Chicago.

Julia is completing her Master of Music Performance (Choral Conducting) at Western University. Her leadership has been evident in several key roles, including serving as the Canadian Chamber Choir’s Apprentice Conductor during their February 2024 Alberta tour, and she was also selected as a masterclass conductor for the National Youth Choir of Canada at Choral Canada’s PODIUM 2024 national conference and festival.
