Symphonic Animals
This musical bestiary brings together 2 key works from the children’s orchestral repertoire: Francis Poulenc’s L’histoire de Babar, le petit éléphant, based on a text by Jean de Brunhoff, and Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. Simple, refined and evocative, the music of both scores has met with undiminished success since their creation, in 1946 in Paris for the little elephant and in 1936 in Moscow for the resourceful hunter. Tradition and imagination come together in this festive concert!
Presented for Educational Outings on April 23, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Salle Pierre-Mercure in partnership with the Orchestre classique de Montréal.
